Prepare to be spammed with one of my favorite manis I have ever done!
I've seen so many "palms in the sunset" nails this summer, and I have really wanted to do one myself. And yesterday I finally had the time to sit down and do it!
For my base I used OPI - Pink Friday, then I sponged on a gradient with Cult Nails - Flushed, which is much more purple in real life, but for som reason always turns blue in photographs, OPI - Pink Friday and RARE - Lily. I also dabbed a little bit of OPI - Glitzerland at the edge to add some extra sparkle to the sunset.
Then I took a tiny brush and painted the palms with OPI - Lady In Black. Painting the palms were much easier than I thought it would be! With a tiny brush and thinning the polish with nail polish thinner, painting small details is really not that hard.
My mishaped thumb is actually the nail I'm most happy with.
I have been staring at my nails all day, and showing all my colleagues "Guys, LOOK at my NAILS!!! Aren't they AWESOME?!?!" lol :p
I think I'm improving my gradient skills, but I still need more practise cleaning up, I don't like that the pink base is showing at the edge :-/ I feel like no matter how much I clean up I end up with a tiny edge of the base showing, and the more I clean up the larger my cuticle gap will be as well. Anyone have any tips to avoid it? Or maybe I'm just sloppy?
Even though I have not been to a warm exotic country with palms and gorgeous sunsets this summer, at least I can now look at my nails, day dream and pretend to be on a beautiful beach ;)

Gorgeous sunset nails! They look amazing :D
ReplyDeleteThis is really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, love what you did with the background! So unique and beautiful! ♥
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the background colours <3
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Lisa! *.* I'd say don't be afraid of the clean up and gradient over cuticles, that way after cleaning you won't see the free base edge :) Kisses,
