Norway inspired

This was also a theme for the 31DC I was dreading, "inspired by your country". I had no idea what to do! Paint fjords and mountains? Paint the Norwegian flag? But then it hit me, rosemaling! It's a traditional Norwegian folk art. Rosemaling could be translatet as "rose painting" or "decorative painting". It's usually painted on decorative wood items, such as a chest, boxes, plates (hung on walls) or signs. Even though the name "Rosemaling" suggest painting roses or flowers, the painting style is so stylized that no specific flower can be identified. Swirls and swirly designs are very typical of Rosemaling.

So this was my inspiration for today's manicure! I am not particularly pleased with the result, but considering it's my very first time trying this painting style (which is actually one stroke painting!), and my first time painting with acrylic paints on my nails (even though it's much easier to work with than nail polish) and I'm at the very beginning of my "free hand career", I guess it really is ok :) But since I wasn't very happy with it, I only took two pictures of the finished manicure, lol :p

Now, the next challenge, that is one I'm really looking forward to! And I've been planning that design for weeks, so here's to hoping it turns out the way I want it to ;)
