Lately I've been sort of obsessed with doodling and drawing zentangles, so I thought I'd try to do it on my nails!
I painted two coats of OPI - My Boyfriend Scales Walls, one coat of Poshé to make it dry and a coat of Essie - Matte About You to mattify and make it easier to draw on.
Then I drew the zentangle patterns on my nails using a Pigma Micron 01 pen. It was not very easy to draw on my nails, the pen wouldn't stick properly, as you can see in the pictures the lines are not even. It helped going over the lines a couple of times. But also the polish wasn't completely dry, which made it even harder to draw since I had to be very light with the pen in order to not push through the polish.
I did not top coat before taking the pictures, I was worried it would smudge. Which it did a little when I top coated after, so good thing I waited :)
In spite of all he flaws, I do like this, at least I like the idea, and I think I will try this again. I want to perfect the technique ;)
But, the imperfect lines add to the sketch effect, so I guess I could say it was meant to be this way ;)
Gorgeous! I always admire doodling art and it had crossed my mind to try it on my nails, but forgotten about it. Must try it!
ReplyDeleteI love the imperfection of this! I love the drawing on your middle finger! It reminds me of a bamboo branches for some reason ;) Great mani, Lisa :)
ReplyDeleteIts still very pretty! It looks like sketches in a sketchbook to me :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is so cool Lisa! First I thought it was a MoYou stamp but after reading the text, it's even cooler!! I love the zentangles on your nails and the imperfections make this mani perfect :)
