GOT - Stripes

I'm starting my new years resolution right away and joining a challenge! "Good Old Thursdays" is about using an old polish (at least one year old, or some of your oldest) and it should preferably have been used before. The point is trying to find inspiration in your stash instead of buying new polish.

The theme for today is stripes, I knew I wanted to use OPI - My Private Jet (one of my first polishes) and OPI - Moon Over Mumbai. Then I found a third color to break it up and used OPI - Pamplona Purple. These three are all some of the very first polishes I bought when my addiction started. I think MPJ actually might be "the polish that started it all" for me ;)

 

I needed three coats of Moon Over Mumbai for complete coverage. Then I placed striping tape and painted MPJ, new pieces of striping tape and painted Pamplona Purple. In between these taping sessions I applied a coat of Poshé to speed up drying. Nedless to say my nails are thicker than they have ever been before... But I did not have time to wait for each coat to dry (I need to stop working over time and get my nails done earlier in the day!).

The idea I had in my head before starting was pretty awesome, in the beginning, mid way and close to the end, it did not look very good. But when I finished it turned out almost like I had imagined it, and I have to say I'm pretty pleased! 

I love the combination of these colors and the different finishes. And most of the stripes came out crisp and even :)

When I finished my right hand I did not have time to do the sriping thing on my cinderella and ended up with a simple dotticure, which also turned out pretty cool. The colors work well together and I'm a huge fan of the contrast between shimmer (actually holo in this case, only it does not translate in these pictures) and creme finish.
