Just one more summery mint mani before I give in to the autumn colors! I just got Deborah Lippmann - Mermaid's Dream a couple of weeks ago, and I have to use it at least once before we move into the darker colors of the season.
It's pretty much the mint version of Mermaid's Kiss, but for some reason the formula was completely different. While Mermaid's Kiss is kind of thick, but still very easy to apply, Mermaid's Dream is much thinner, but also easy to apply. I have no idea why the formula is so different, maybe it's just my polish?
Anyway, two easy coats covered perfectly. On my accent nail I started with two coats of Essie - Mint Candy Apple. I wanted to stamp using gold, to pick up on the gold in Mermaid's Dream. But the gold stamp was very hard to see, so I decided to try to double stamp using Konad white. It looked much better!
Inspired by this design by La paillette frondeuse, I taped off a part of the nail and added a coat of Mermaid's Dream. I then painted white edges using a tiny brush, but I wish I had used tape instead, it would have looked much cleaner I think.
Look at this gorgeous polish! The mint shimmer base is filled with tiny gold glitter and larger teal colored hex glitters.
On my right hand I did the exact same design, only using Mermaid's Kiss, which I have to admit, I do love more than Mermaid's Dream. I didn't take a picture of it, but Mermaid's Kiss is even more sparkly, and I think it's the subtle color combined with the surprising sparkle that makes me love it so much.
But by all means, I love Mermaid's Dream too! And I think this is a mani worthy of being the last of the summer, despite the slightly failed accent nail :p
How about you guys? Are you still clinging to the summer colors, or have you moved on to autumn?
What a pretty color! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, it is a dream polish indeed! :)
ReplyDeleteActually, can't tell which I like the most, although if I had to choose between formulas, I'd go with Mermaid's Dream - thick polishes drive me nuts ;)
