I have a fetish for argyle, I don't know why, but I just think it looks so cool! At least when you wear it "right", it's something about that mix of the old, nerdy pattern combined with femininity that makes it so sexy. So I have wanted to do argyle nail art ever since I started this blog, and when day 22 of the 31DC challenge came around with the theme "inspired by a fabric", I knew exactly what I wanted to do!

I also saw it as a perfect opportunity to use my new A-England polish "Dragon", and boy is it gorgeous! A deep dark green filled with gold shimmer and holographic particles, amazing! Will defenitely wear this solo some time very soon.

For the argyle pattern I started with two coats of white, when that was dry (process sped up using Seche Vite) I placed tiny square tape pieces that I cut up on the nail with tweezers. Painted a coat of Dragon and removed the tape with tweezers before it dried. Finished with gold stripes using my new nail art brush (which is by the way fantastic) and a top coat. I never imagined my self doing any nail art tutorials, but if you would like one for this I'd make one for you :)

It sure took time to do though... And can you believe it, I did my right hand as well! Now, I usually do both hands, cause I wear each manicure for a couple of days, and I prefer my hands to match. The only time I didn't do both hands was when I tried freehand swirls, because, well, come on. This time I was considering keeping my right hand plain, with simple green and white nails, since it took quite a while to do the first hand. But I decided that no, I love argyle, I'm gonna do both, so I did! I don't have pictures of my right hand, but it did turn out ok!

I'm considering entering my freehand swrils mani to Kayla's indie nail art contest, but now I'm wondering if this one would be better? Or is the indie polish not "featured" enough in this mani? What do you think?

Just two more pictures to please my argyle fetish and I'm done ;) Btw. what do you think of argyle? Hot or not?
